(More customer reviews)I own six basses in total and the only better bass I own than this one is a handmade custom-order. This bass is amazing-it features full-fledged EMG pickups and a 3 band EMG active preamp which is a great combination. This bass can readily be heard even when I'm competing with drums, 2 guitars and vocals. You can also get a full range of usable tones by experimenting with the EQ and the pickups.

Construction-wise, I could find no flaws-the frets were done perfectly, the satin finish is evenly applied over the whole body and the woodworking is perfect. The finish also makes the neck play very fast. The neck is slim without feeling flimsy. Its also one of my lightest weight basses which is important when you have a long rehearsal or set to play.
The only complaint (if you can really call it a complaint) is with the matte satin finish on the body. Although satin is great for the back of the neck, I wish the body had a nice shiny cleargloss finish. That would really show off the spalted maple top even better.

I would still recommend this bass, it looks great and, to me, sounds even better.

I've played quite a few different basses in my musical career and this is it.I would never play anything else.
Bass has a great weight proportion, fast action, smooth neck and amazing electronics.Bass sounds as good as you've heard and is comfortable to play.Well worth the money if you have the dough to spend.

(More customer reviews)Having researched this bass before I purchased it, I was sure I was going to be getting a quality acoustic bass. What I recieved was a pretty nasty bass with a lovely scrolled inlay in the neck. The "A" string has a significant buzz when plucked with out much force. I sent the bass back twice and there is still a problem. I had a local luthier look at it and try to adjust it. The buzz has somewhat disappeared, but the adjustment to the neck and bridge have turned this poor thing into a Bleeder. Definatley not what I wanted. For the same amount of money I walked out of GC with a new Takamine "G" series that sound and plays great. I'm kinda bummed cause I expected way more out of Michael Kelly.

(More customer reviews)this is the one of the best basses in this price range that you can buy. period.great construction and quality. double ball tuning sytstem is awesome.the looks take a little getting used to, but once you do its awesome.the dual emg humbuckers are great. u can get whatever sound u want, from real punchy to mellow tones.the leg rest is kinda useless, and the gig bag provided isnt the best, so if you are going to carry it around i suggest you just use a normal bass gig bag...it works perfectly fine.

(More customer reviews)Hubby asked for a gig bag for Christmas, so I started my shopping without even knowing what a gig bag looked like.I received some great help on the Amazon forum!

After reviewing everything Amazon had to offer as well as viewing the other online stores recommended to me, I went to a brick and mortar store that had about half a dozen styles of gig bags to choose from.

This bag was hands down the nicest one available for the money.I paid $[...] at the store, but the service and being allowed to handle the merchandise makes up for the difference in cost.

This bag is made well and the pockets are big plus.The bag is padded, but not too padded.Hubby specifically requested back pack straps--this bag has them.

The bags I looked at with the 20mm or 1" thick padding were more like a soft sided "violin" case.While I had thought the thicker padding was what I wanted, after looking at the bags, I knew that was just too much padding and bulk.He already has a hard shell guitar case--he wants a gig bag.

This style comes in the black and tan color and a black and red color.Both are nice, but for my taste, the black and tan is a little more elegant.

There seemed to be a BIG jump in quality from the lower end THIN gig bags to the next level up.An extra $10 to $20 cost for a nicer bag seemed well worth the money.But, cost wasn't the only determining factor.The store I shopped at had bags that were priced higher than this bag that weren't as nice.I don't know if it was a brand name issue or what, but this is the bag that settled out of the fray--best value for the money.

I'll have to revisit this review after Christmas to report on Hubby's take.
